ADOS Assessments
Autism Evaluations
The Gold Standard for Autism Diagnosis
ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) assessments support early identification of autism spectrum disorders in young children. This play-based evaluation is considered the gold standard for autism diagnosis and helps families gain clarity, access appropriate services, and make informed decisions about next steps.
When to Consider an ADOS Assessment
If your child is showing signs of developmental delay – such as limited eye contact, repetitive behaviors, or a delay in walking and talking – an ADOS assessment may help determine whether autism is a factor.
While not every delay means autism, early identification allows families to access appropriate therapies and support sooner. If you have questions or concerns, start with a conversation and screening to help determine whether a full evaluation is recommended.
How ADOS Fits Into the Diagnostic Process
The ADOS is one part of a broader diagnostic process and is often paired with developmental screenings, caregiver interviews, and clinical observations. Together, these tools provide a comprehensive picture of your child’s communication, play, and social behaviors.
The goal is not just to identify autism but to better understand your child’s individual needs – so services and supports can be tailored to their developmental profile.
Who Performs the Assessment
ADOS assessments at CTEI are conducted by licensed professionals with expertise in early childhood development and autism diagnosis. Our team includes specialists and evaluators trained in administering the ADOS in a supportive, play-based setting.
We know evaluations can feel overwhelming, so we prioritize a calm, kid-centered approach that helps your child feel comfortable and gives families accurate, meaningful information they can trust and act on.
What Happens After Assessment
After the ADOS assessment, we’ll meet to discuss the results and recommend next steps. If a diagnosis is made, we can help you access developmental supports such as Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or ABA.
We also guide families toward long-term options like DDSN eligibility or school-based services. No matter the outcome, we ensure you have clear answers and a plan for moving forward
